5 Professions that May Benefit Immensely from Artificial Intelligence

5 Professions that May Benefit Immensely from Artificial IntelligenceWith all the current tech trends pointing toward more dependence in automation, it is understandable the some professions will benefit greatly from artificial intelligence. With some people, even the very words “artificial intelligence” stir up fears and some apprehension. This is because of our general fear of the unknown. To many of us, artificial intelligence represents the unknown.

We have seen the evil sides of technology in movies like The Terminator, and we have also been warned for years about how artificial intelligence will one day take many of our jobs away. This is what progress represents to many people. In fact, we have seen it happen in numerous ways already in our lives. We have seen the record player replaced by the CD. We have seen email take place of the post office. And we have seen DVDs take place of the movie theatre.

There has been a new study and report created by Gartner which tells us that even though technology will most likely get rid of some 1.8 million jobs, it will actually create 2.3 million additional jobs. Peter Sondergaard, who is the head researcher from Gartner, predicts that artificial intelligence could actually enhance the abilities of existing workers and could even become a “net job creator” beginning in the year 2020.

With that said, let us examine 5 professions that may benefit immensely from artificial intelligence growth.

Big Demands for Data Scientists

Data scientists have become a new type of analytical data gurus. They evaluate data to identify any complicated behaviors, trends, or inferences. And they look to uncover hidden indicators that could help companies make better and more efficient business decisions. Data scientists have been defined as, “part mathematician, part computer scientist, and part trend spotter.”

IBM has predicted that the demand for these new data scientists will increase by 28% by the year 2020, and the annual requirement for these data scientists, data developers, and even data engineers will reach 700,000.

Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineers

In a typical scenario, the machine learning engineer will team up with a data scientist as they synchronize their tasks. Thus, the demand for these machine learning engineers could experience the same kind of increase that of the data scientists. While the data scientist will generally have stronger backgrounds in statistics and analytics, the ML engineer knowledge base will tend more toward computer science, where they will usually have stronger coding ability.

Data Labeling Professional

With all the increase in data gathering and collection, there will also be a demand for more data labeling professionals. It is believed by many that this data labeling field could very well be a future blue-collar job in the high tech era.

Experts believe that the function of data labeling will actually be data curators. This is where raw data is cleaned up and organized machines to digest. This labeling will enable scientists to train their machines to perform new tasks.

Artificial Intelligence Hardware Specialist

This is another potential blue-collar job during the artificial intelligence world. These specialists would be responsible for developing required hardware like the GPU chips. Even today, many tech companies are currently engaging in program to create and build their very own specialized chips.

Data Protection Specialist

Obviously in a data collection world, the value of data itself will increase and become a commodity. This will bring about a huge demand in the protection of that data. As we already see in our existing high tech world, there are many layers of protection and access to our data. This has to be managed and maintained. Security measures will be to be adopted and enforced.

Data protection specialist will be greatly needed in such a world. Look for this field to growth right along with the rest of the data collection functions.

As we can see, there are several professions that may benefit immensely from artificial intelligence.
