Finding your path is not an act of searching. It is an act of allowing. When you let go of what you think should be, you allow what is meant to be. While this may sound trite, it is simply the act of following your heart moment by moment.
Your purpose is already built into your being. When you follow your heart, your inner GPS, you are nudged in the right direction.Because what finding your path comes down to is living life to the fullest. It comes down to following what feels alive to you, and doing your best, in this moment.

Learning the Dimensions of a Life Purpose – How it Affects Your Daily Life

Discover your life mission

Do you know the critical three dimensions of purpose? Understanding and knowing what these are will ...
To yearn for an achievement is to yearn for an artificial sweetener. It may taste sweet at first, but it has no substance. Instead of thinking of what you don’t have, focus on what you can do with what you have. Focus on right here, right now. If you feel the urge to write, then write. Start a blog. Write flash fiction. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have an audience. What matters is that you start.
Remember, it’s not up to you to figure out where you’re going. It’s up to you to follow your heart, your GPS.Birds do not worry when they fly. They simply fly.
This became evident as all humans realized that for the most part, they shared similar needs and goals. As a result, societies and communities were formed.

Over time, mass food production was developed along with the notion that each member of their society could bring a unique set of skills that would benefit everyone. Then as they gradually elected leaders, created a set of laws to live by, and formed a military to protect them from opposing communities, the civilization was born.

These civilizations became very sophisticated and organized. Many built schools and practiced the arts. In fact, all the technologies found in today’s world owe a debt of gratitude to these ancient communities.

We have listed below eight (8) ancient civilizations that began during the BC era. There are listed from the most recent formation to the earliest of these civilizations.

The Roman Civilization

Period: 550 BC–465 AD
Location: Rome
Most Noted For: Most Powerful of all Ancient Civilizations.

The powerful Roman civilization was formed during the sixth century BC. Its existence is so legendary and significant that even the story of its beginning is a myth and legend. At the peak of its rule, the mighty Roman Empire had encompassed a huge part of the known world. This included every single one of today’s Mediterranean countries, some of Western Asia, and large chunks of the Middle East and Northern Africa.

During its initial stages, Rome was ruled by kings, but the people were very displeased with this type of rule after withstanding only seven of them. They then decided to take over their own government by electing a Senate and the Republic was born. This model of government still lives today in many countries.

Eventually, Rome’s Republic became an Empire after the populous decided upon having Emperors rule them along with the Senate. Many of these Emperors were great leaders such as Caesar, Augustus, and Trajan. But there are some tyrants who ruled as well such as Caligula and Nero.

Over the centuries as the Empire grew, it became more difficult to maintain this massive civilization under one rule. As has happened many times throughout history, it was ultimately overrun by barbarians and its enemies.

The Persian Civilization

Period: 550 BC–331 BC
Location: Persia (Modern-day Iran)
Most Noted For: Wise Rulers and Strong Military.

There was a brief period of time when the ancient Persian civilization was by far the most powerful Empire in the world. The most incredible aspect of this fact was that it was only in existence for around 200 years.

During this relatively short amount of time, the Persian armies had conquered a total land mass that was greater than two million square miles. This included parts of Southern Egypt, most of Greece, and a large chunk of India. This Persian rule can be attributed to its wise rulers and the massive strength of its military.

Prior to the formation of this civilization, Persia was controlled by a number of various factions – each of which had a unique leader. It was in 550 BC that King Cyrus II achieved power and brought the entire kingdom of Persia together as one. He then went on to capture Ancient Babylon.

The conquests of King Cyrus II were so quickly achieved that by 553 BC; he had managed to invade India, which was very far to the East of Persia. After he died, his successors went on to expand even more as they invaded Greece and took part in the famous battle at Sparta.

This incredible Empire came to an abrupt end because of perhaps the greatest military commander of all time – Alexander the Great from Macedon.

The Maya Civilization

Period: 2600 BC–900 AD
Location: Around present-day Yucatan
Most Noted For: Complex Understanding of Astronomy

The Ancient Maya civilization resided in the region of Central America. It was formed around 2600 BC and was renowned for introducing a remarkable calendar. After this civilization was well established, it greatly prospered and became quite advanced for its time. Its population peaked at around 19 million, which was amazing.

And by the year 700 BC, the Mayans were reading and writing their own language. They went even further by creating solar calendars. The Ancient Mayans believed that the Earth was created on August 11, 3114 BC and that it was going to end on December 21, 2012 – a story that many of us remember quite well.

These people were also incredibly rich when it came to both wealth and culture. They actually built their own pyramids; some were even bigger than the ones in Egypt.

As to how this great civilization ended is one the mysteries of history. No one is quite sure how a civilization that was as sophisticated as the Ancient Mayans came to such a sudden end.

The Ancient Greek Civilization

Period: 2700 BC–479 BC
Location: Greece
Major Highlights: Concepts of Democracy and the Senate, the Olympics

The Ancient Greek civilization was not the most powerful or the oldest of all time, but they were perhaps the most influential of all ancient civilizations. This remarkable group of people was actually derived from the Minoan and Cycladic civilizations. There is also data from cave burials located in Argolid, Greece that dates back to before 7000 BC.

The Greek civilization’s history extends over a period of time so vast that historians actually divided it across different periods, which includes Classical, the Archaic, and the Hellenistic periods. During these periods the world witnessed quite a number of ancient Greeks who gained notoriety, many of which altered the world forever and still has significance today.

Standard components of modern society like the Olympics, Democracy, and the Senate were all derived from the Ancient Greek civilization. They also gave us the basis for fields of study such as physics, biology, and modern geometry. These feats were accomplished through the amazing efforts of people like Plato, Socrates, Euclid, Archimedes, Pythagoras, and Aristotle who brought countless beliefs, theories, and inventions to the entire world.

The cultural contributions from the various dynasties coming out of the Ancient Chinese Civilization are beyond remarkable. Their rich history is probably the most diverse of any other civilization to ever exist. When you go back to their very first dynasty to the very last one, then you will see precisely how resilient they have been across a very long period of time.

It is believed that it all started with the Yellow River civilization which was when the dynasties began. It was around the year 2700 BC when the Emperor first ruled the Yellow civilization. This led to the formation of the many Chinese dynasties that came later within mainland China.

It was the Xia dynasty that first ruled the entirety of China around the year 2070 BC. From that point forward, history witnessed numerous dynasties that ruled throughout various time periods of time. The last of these was the Qing dynasty that ended because of the Xinhai Revolution in 1912 AD.

The world witnessed this remarkable civilization survive for over four millennia. During that time, the Chinese people gave to the world a number of useful products like paper, printing, gunpowder, the compass, alcohol, and much more.

The Ancient Egyptian Civilization

Period: 3150 BC–30 BC
Location: Egypt
Most Noted For: Construction of pyramids

The ancient Egyptian civilization is certainly among the oldest and most culturally rich of any other on this list. This fascinating civilization first sprang up on the banks of the Nile River. It is well known for many facets of its culture such as building its mammoth pyramids, the Pharaohs, and the infamous Sphinx.

The civilization formed around 3150 BC when Lower and Upper Egypt combined under the rule of the first pharaoh. It was the early settlers in the Nile Valley around 3500 BC that started the community which later grew into the Egyptian Empire.

Upon examining the span of its entire history, we notice that the rule of Ancient Egypt was characterized by a series of both stable kingdoms and those that brought instability.

Ultimately, Ancient Egypt provided to the world many fascinations such the construction of the great pyramids, and mummies that are still preserving many of the ancient pharaohs today, its rich hieroglyphics, and much much more. The Ancient Egyptian civilization reached its peak under the rule of Ramesses the Great.

The Indus Valley Civilization

Period: 3300 BC–1900 BC
Current Location: Northeast Afghanistan to Pakistan and northwest India
Most Noted For: One of the most widespread civilizations, covering 1.25 million km.

The Indus Valley civilization was the first to grow into both a massive number and encompass a large area of territory. It was considered a trail blazer for all the big civilizations that followed. From the Indus Valley region, this society grew from northeast Afghanistan all the way to northwest India and Pakistan. When compared to the other two earliest civilizations of Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt, it was by far the most widespread.

There were actually entire populations that settled within this fertile Indus river basin. This was where the major rivers from Asia, along with another river called Ghaggar-Hakra used to run through eastern Pakistan and northeast India.

Sometimes the Indus Valley civilization is called the Mohenjo-Daro civilization or the Harappan civilization, which has been named after excavation sites that have uncovered remains from the civilization. It is believed that the peak period of this society lasted from 2600 BC to 1900 BC. Remains have also indicated that a very sophisticated and advanced urban culture existed within the Indus Valley civilization. Thus, its capital became the region’s first urban center.

The Indus Valley civilization cultivated the ability to measure mass, time, and length with amazing accuracy, based on items uncovered in these excavations. Findings also revealed a culture that was also quite rich in arts and crafts.

The Mesopotamian Civilization

Period: 3500 BC–500 BC
Location: Iraq, Syria, and Turkey
Most Noted For: First civilization in the world

Finally, we come to the very first known civilization in history. The birth of Mesopotamia is so ancient that no evidence exists of other civilized community that came before them. The historical span of ancient Mesopotamia runs from around the year 3300 BC through 750 BC.

While Mesopotamia is typically the place that is credited with being the first civilization on Earth, it is also believed people in this region first developed agriculture around 8000 BC. Shortly thereafter, the domestication of farm animals began taking place. Needless to say, these developments were critical in supporting a mass population.

It is well known that ancient people created art way before the Mesopotamians came into existence, but this was merely a cultural entity, and did not lead to civilization growth. The Mesopotamian civilization found a way to embrace the most effective of all the systems that came before them. It was though the combining and refining of these early systems and ideas that allowed the very first civilization to flourish. This first civilization ultimately resided within the ancient regions of Babylonia, Sumer, and the Assyria Highlands.

For those people who have wondered what 3D printing can be used for, here’s about as good an example as you find.

Bioprinting is a new process that employs 3D printers to create three-dimensional objects made from biological materials. And these materials can formulate most anything by using a very precise layer-by-layer positioning. The overall goal is to duplicate tissue and material that is functional – like body organs, which are then ready to be installed into live humans. This is what 3D printers can do.

As we follow these fascinating 3D printing technologies through the rigors that are associated with health care, we see some familiar roadblocks that are hindering the process. The biggest of these obstacles are the regulatory factors involved. This is why we are not utilizing these artificial organs as of yet.

Since these 3D printed organs are new to the field of healthcare, authorities have not determined how to regulate these bioprinting processes and their finished products. This has actually proven to be a huge bottleneck for the bioprinting production operations as the printers can crank out far more product than can be approved for use.

Going from 3D Printers to Bioprinting

We know that bioprinting has been derived from the field of 3D printing. In general terms, 3D printing encompasses those technologies that join together material through a layering process that uses a digital model as a blueprint. When it was first used, it had very limited applications, but as with many things these days, this technology has grown and now has uses in most every field. One example is that the US Air Force uses it to create airplane parts.

In the field of medicine, medical researchers employ 3D printers for many purposes. It is used to create replicas of human body parts. This tech is used in both reconstructive as well as plastic surgeries, and implants are actually customized for a specific patient. This was unheard of just a few years ago. The potential here is enormous. Imagine how people today who have been waiting for an organ donor for months and months. Perhaps in the near future they will only have to wait for a 3D printers to make an organ for them.

However, bioprinting can offer even more to the field of healthcare. Thanks to recent developments, theses high tech printers can create a wider variety of products that range from human tissue to biological components and even vaccines.

Present State of Bioprinting

Medical scientists still have a ways to go in creating 3D-printed organs that is ready to use in actual humans. There are several reasons for this. To begin with, it is quite challenging to introduce a printed structure into living bodies that use real blood and lymph.

However, there has been lots of success in the 3D printing of nonvascularized tissue such as some cartilages. In addition, there has also been success in printing out metal ceramic objects that are used to support the tissue of bones. And there have been quite a few encouraging animal studies that have successfully used blood vessels, cardiac tissue, and skin. This is a strong indicator that bioprinting scientists are getting closer and closer to transplanting artificial organs.

One example of this is Saul, who eventually became the King of Israel that the people had sought for so long. Saul fell under God’s influence and makes several prophetic statements, but he is not considered to be one of the Major Prophets in the Bible.

The fact is that God employed prophets throughout biblical history for the purpose of guiding and warning his people. As was often the case with humans, they tended to ignore and not follow warnings or instructions very well.

Let us take a look at the 4 Major Prophets from the Bible.

Isaiah

Isaiah is considered by many religious scholars to be perhaps greatest of all prophets in the Bible. His very name actually means “YHWH (the LORD) is salvation.” He reside within Jerusalem and the prophecies he was given by God were specific toward Israel, Judah as well as other nations. The local Jewish tradition makes a claim that he came from royal descent, and many believe he might have been a distant cousin to King Uzziah. This most likely provided access for him to the Kings of Judah within Jerusalem.

Biblical accounts claim that Isaiah got visions from God during the rule of four Kings from Judah, who were Ahaz, Uzziah, Jotham, and Hezekiah. The biblical timeline here extends from the end of King Uzziah’s rule up until the siege of Jerusalem by the Assyrian King Sennacherib. His ministry lasted 40-years during the later stages of the 8th century B.C. Jewish writings indicate that he was executed by King Manasseh who had him sawed in half.

Jeremiah

If you read the biblical book of Jeremiah, then you will notice it depicts Jeremiah as a major prophet of Yahweh, the Israelite god. During Jeremiah’s lifetime, the nation of Judah was divided over by both religion and policy and there were many prophets that brought forth opposing messages from Yahweh. The Bible claims that Jeremiah fiercely preached the word of Yahweh against all opposition during those times and it eventually strengthened his authenticity. He was not shy about pointing out those who were prophesying lies.

Jeremiah gave warnings that Judah will suffer disaster from Yahweh because the people had rebelled against him as they began worshipping other gods. Not only that, they had adopted certain policies of Babylon that led to widespread social injustices.

Ezekiel

Ezekiel conducted his ministry in both Babylon and Jerusalem during first few decades of the 6th century BC. For Ezekiel and his followers, these were terrible years as the Israelite nation and the tiny state of Judah was both eliminated by the Babylonians under the rule of Nebuchadrezzar. Jerusalem eventually surrendered in year 597 BC. However, the Israelites built a resistance which led to the city’s destruction following a long siege. This resulted most of the survivors getting deported.

Prior to the surrender of Jerusalem, Ezekiel was seen as a very effective priest. He was deported along with his followers to Babylonia and lived at Tel-abib (near Nippur). It was apparent that he was seen as someone with uncommon stature. Ezekiel’s first vision was the popular “throne-chariot” of God. This was followed up by many more prophesies.

Daniel

All biblical accounts about Daniel claim that he was also taken captive by Babylon under the rule of King Nebuchadnezzar around 604 B.C. This Babylonian captivity went on for some 70 years – something that God foretold using the prophet Jeremiah. During that time period, Daniel served in various governmental positions under the reign of several Babylonian as well as Medo-Persian rulers – among them were King Nebuchadnezzar, Darius, Belshazzar, and Cyrus.

Sometime during the initial year under the rule Darius, Daniel began to understand this prophecy by the Prophet Jeremiah who forecasted his people would remain in captivity for 70 years. This took place as this 70 year stretch was coming to an end. It is assumed that Daniel was around 80 or 90 years old at this time. He obviously lived a very long life, but biblical accounts do not specify how old he actually was. Daniel authored the book of Daniel throughout the 6th century B.C.

False Prophets

We should also address how what the Bible refers to as false prophets, who are people that claim to speak on behalf of God, but really are not. And in addition to this, there are those people who are speaking as representatives of other gods as well. Perhaps the biggest example of this is when a showdown involving Elijah against over 400 prophets of Baal, the Canaanite god. In this instance, Elijah fully demonstrates that he is the only one who has the right to speak on behalf of the true God.

This new drug has proven quite effective in treating many of the world’s most troublesome disease-causing bacteria, and this includes several strains that are known to be antibiotic resistant. This has been observed both in lab tests and using mice.

Amazing Power of Artificial Intelligence

Yet again, we see artificial intelligence playing a huge role in modern medicine. This deep learning computer model is capable of sifting through over a hundred million various chemical compounds in just a few days. And it has been specifically designed to screen out antibiotics showing a potential of killing bacteria with mechanisms that differ from drugs that currently exist in the market.

“We wanted to develop a platform that would allow us to harness the power of artificial intelligence to usher in a new age of antibiotic drug discovery,” said James Collins, who is a Termeer Professor of Medical Engineering & Science at the MIT’s Institute for Medical Engineering and Science and Depart of Biological Engineering. “Our approach revealed this amazing molecule which is arguably one of the more powerful antibiotics that has been discovered.”

More Antibiotic Compounds Show Promise

In this amazing new study, scientists have also screened out a number of other potential antibiotic compounds which will be tested further. They also feel that this excited new model will also design new drugs in the future because of how quickly it has learned which chemical structures are most capable of killing bacteria.

“The machine learning model can explore, in silico, large chemical spaces that can be prohibitively expensive for traditional experimental approaches,” claims Regina Barzilay, who is the Delta Electronics Professor of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science in MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL).

Barzilay and Collins are the faculty co-leaders for the MIT Abdul Latif Jameel Clinic for Machine Learning in Health (J-Clinic), are also the authors of study’s final report, which was recently posted in Cell.

A Brand Antibiotic Pipeline

Amazingly, medicine has not seen very many new antibiotic drugs over the last few decades. And most of those were simply spin-offs of drugs that already exist. One big reason for this is that existing methods of screening out new antibiotics have been very expensive. Not only do existing methods come with a huge cost, they are also very time consuming, and are also limited to a very narrow spectrum of drug classes.

“We’re facing a growing crisis around antibiotic resistance, and this situation is being generated by both an increasing number of pathogens becoming resistant to existing antibiotics, and an anemic pipeline in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries for new antibiotics,” Collins points out.

In order to identify completely novel compounds, this research team has created artificial intelligence that analyzes the molecular structure of compounds and then correlates them with traits that has the potential to kill off bacteria.

This method of employing predictive computer models to screen drugs has actually been around for a while. However, the older models weren’t accurate enough to create new drug discoveries. In these previous methods, molecules were treated as vectors that determined the absence or presence of certain groups of chemicals.

These new neural networks can identify these group representations automatically, and they can map molecules straight into continuous vectors that will accurately predict their properties. Watching this antibiotic identified by artificial intelligence is very exciting.

Some of the buzz about it has been incredibly negative, which is totally normal. We have seen throughout history how most every new technology has been scrutinized. This is because we human beings are not crazy about change. The fact of the matter is that that are several amazing benefits of artificial intelligence.

While many people like using the term “artificial intelligence”, they do not always understand what it is or what it means. In the simplest of terms, AI is when machines can solve problems that have been solved by humans in the past. Thus, rather than using our natural intelligence to address issues in our lives, we instead use artificial intelligence to solve them.

With that said, let us examine some examples where AI is helping us – or will be helping us in the near future.

Specific Benefits of Artificial Intelligence

Voice Search and Smart Speakers – If you haven’t noticed, we are using our touchscreens and keyboards less and less these days. This is because we simply ask our artificial intelligent assistants to perform many of those tasks. I am talking assistants like our friends Siri and Alexa. We simply ask them to look up information on the major search engines and they then verbally respond with their results.

Recent statistics claim that one out of every six Americans now own a smart speaker of some sort. And Edison research tells us that this figure has risen by over 120% since 2017.

When you consider how this simplifies many computerized tasks, it is easy to see why the popularity has grown. Non-technical people and the elderly are finding computers much easier to use with this technology.

Super Targeted Advertising – While most of us detest the number of ads we are bombarded with on a daily basis, you have probably noticed how the majority of those ads are actually addressing our interests. This is because artificial intelligence is picking up on our search tendencies and cataloging the blogs and websites that we frequently visit.

As a result, when we navigate the web and social sites, we are seeing ads that pertain to our recent activities. This is actually a good thing for businesses – as they can get more bang for their buck on their marketing budget. It is also better for us because the things we are interested in are finding us rather than the other way about.

Computer Vision Will Revolutionize Surveillance – Computer vision has improved tremendously in the last few years. In fact, it has improved by over 70% since 2015. The biggest challenge with computer vision has always been the ability to pinpoint objects based on its accuracy to recognize pixels. There is also the speed at which computer visions algorithms can focus on a standardized image datasets that is used by the majority research facilities and is known as ImageNet. This average speed increased by an incredible 16 times within an 18 month period recently.

Many computer scientists see this increased ability to surveil society as having an amazing effect. For instance, the biggest problem with camera surveillance now is the amount of data to examine. Often times, criminals are long gone before crimes are even identified from this visual data. This will not be the case any longer. And when quantum computers come into play, we could possibly predict crimes before they even happen!

Summary

As you can see, there are many benefits of artificial intelligence when it is applied properly. We just mentioned a few of them above, but there are literally thousands of benefits to be experience from AI. Stay tuned.

This curiosity is strengthened even more by the fact that that the majority of our oceans remained unexplored. It wasn’t until May of 1853 that the world’s very first aquarium was opened at the London Zoo. America shortly followed suit with an American aquarium that opened in New York City. Before long, the best aquariums in the world began taking shape.

It is from these humble beginnings that aquariums began to pop up all over the world. And of course, over that time they have dramatically improved and have utilized the latest technologies in designing incredible exhibits of this mysterious ocean life.

One notable innovation has been the “walk through” aspect of many of the world’s greatest aquariums. This design allows people to feel as if they have been thrust into the ocean’s worldview. Let us examine the 5 best aquariums in the world.

This empire was born around 550 BC at a time when the majority of people on Earth were actually illiterate. All the communities during those times were using very ancient methods in their basic daily routines. Needless to say, most any advancement or invention would have made a huge impression at that time in history. The amazing thing about Ancient Persian inventions is that several of them are still in use today. This is what makes them stand out.

Not only this, many of the concepts that have been adopted during modern times were first conceived by the Ancient Persians. This civilization was very adept at applying common sense to the world around them. And it is this frame of mind that allowed several technologies to develop. Let us examine 7 Ancient Persian inventions and ideas that were quite amazing.

Human Rights

The notion of human rights was first addressed by Cyrus the Great, who was a legendary Persian king. Cyrus developed what is referred to as the Cyrus Cylinder. On this cylinder were various declarations about human rights. The declarations on this cylinder are considered to be very first time that human rights were addressed in all of history. In fact, today there are numerous human rights movements that have been influenced by the Cyrus cylinder.

Animation

Another remarkable idea that originated with the Ancient Persians is the field of animation. We all know that animation and the motion picture industry is among the biggest worldwide industries. In some ruins from Iran, an image set was uncovered near an ancient burial site. These images contained a goat that was eating leaves from a tree and jumping. The more they examined the images, they realized were quite related to one another in a unique sequence. What they found was perhaps the very first example of animation and it was thought to be over 5000 years old.

Refrigeration

Believe it or not, the very first refrigerator was created by in Persian civilization. They achieved this by using a unique composite of lime, sand, clay, and white eggs. They discovered that this composite was able to resist high heat for long periods of time. They used it to construct domes that had several compartments with storage. These various sections were designed for specific items like dry foods and ice.

Batteries

The very first battery is another Ancient Persian invention. This original battery was quite simply designed and had a charge of around a couple of volts. Even though this was a very meager charge, it led to many other great inventions. This Persian battery was comprised of three (3) main elements; a pot and two rods. The idea was a very simple one as they put an electrolyte in a pot along with a rod that served as a cell. From this point forward, future civilizations improved upon this initial design.

Water Irrigation System

The Persian also created the very first water irrigation system. This initial system was called Qanat and became part of the Persian’s native language. They designed a water system of pipes and tubes for the purpose of moving water from one location to another location. This water was provided to the Persian people for personal as well as agricultural purposes. Perhaps the most amazing things regarding Qanat is the fact that it’s still currently used in a few cities in the country of Iran.

Postal Delivery Service

The postal service is yet another creation of Ancient Persia. It was several thousand years ago that the Ancient Persians developed a method of delivering messages from one location to another. Their idea was quite simple as they designated a specific area for these postal services. Those who made these deliveries were known as Chapars and horses were used for this task. This concept was originally conceived by Cyrus the Great.

Sulfuric Acid

Throughout history, there have been countless Muslim chemists and scientists who have achieved great things in the fields of physics and chemistry and physics. For starters, they were known for introducing lots of various chemicals, scientific terms, machines, and concepts that are still being used today. A chemist from Persia named Muhammad ibn Zakariya al-Razi explored and worked on many kinds of chemicals, gases, fuels, and substances. He is seen as a significant contributor to science because of his many discoveries and inventions. His creation of Sulfuric acid has long been considered to be among his greatest acheivements.

We have all heard and even learned new amazing facts in this world.

We wonder sometimes just how many of these nuggets of knowledge are actually true. And we go through our lives questioning how some of them can actually be correct – even though we learn them from very reliable sources. These are the amazing world facts that we are listing in this article.

Listed below are five (5) of the most interesting facts about the world that we have come across:

The Earth Actually Has Two Co-Orbital Satellites

As we all know, our Earth has a single moon that we know quite a bit about. There is a ton of information available about the Moon. But very few of us are aware of the two asteroids that are also trapped by Earth’s orbit. They are known as 2002 AA29 and 3753 Cruithne, and they belong to a larger group of asteroids that are referred to as Near-Earth Objects (NEOs).

3753 Cruithne has a diameter of over three miles and is often referred to as “the second moon of Earth”. It actually has its own synchronized orbit with our planet. It’s unusual orbit appears to be following our planet’s orbit, but it follows its own unique path around the Sun.

On the other hand, 2002 AA29 is just 60 meters across and actually travels along a horseshoe orbit around our planet which brings it very close to the Earth every 95 years or so. In approximately 600 years, it will seem to circle our Earth in a bizarre quasi-satellite orbit. Many scientists believe this will be the best chance for a future space exploration mission.

The Poles of the Earth Routinely Flip

We have all been taught that the North Pole is above Alaska, and the South Pole is located in Antarctica. This might always be the case for the Earth’s geographic poles, but it is not the case for its magnetic poles. Scientists have learned that during the last 20 million years or so, these magnetic poles flip-flopped approximately each several hundred thousand years or so.

While experts know that the molten iron core is what powers the movement of these poles, they are not clear on what causes the actual pole reversals. This entire process is very gradual and takes place every millennium. Presently, the magnetic North Pole of the Earth is slowly creeping north by some 40 miles each year. And when we know that the last time that the pole flipped was only 780,000 years ago, we know that a flip will happen soon.

The Rotation of the Earth is Gradually Slowing Down

The deceleration is the Earth’s rotation is extremely slight and certainly not even noticeable. It is taking place at a rate of around 17 milliseconds for every hundred years, but this rate is not uniform at all. This actually will gradually lengthen our days, but it will take perhaps a 140 million years before our days become 25 hours long.

When our Earth was created some 4.6 billion years ago, the length of its day then was only about six hours long. About 620 million years ago, this day had been increased to around 22 hours. As we know, our days today are around 24 hours long. The reason this is occurring is because of the moon’s influence on the tides taking place on Earth.

The Earth’s Atmosphere Extends to a Distance of 6200 Miles

While our planet’s atmosphere is most dense where it is closest to its surface, but it extends 6200 miles into space from the surface of the Earth. This atmosphere is comprised of five (5) layers. These layers are the Stratosphere, the Troposphere, the Thermosphere, the Mesosphere, and the Exosphere. We know that air density and pressure typically decrease with distance from the planet’s surface.

The majority of the atmosphere is near the surface. Experts claim that 75% of this atmosphere resides within the first 11 km from Earth’s surface. Conversely, the Exosphere, which is the outermost of all the layers, stretches from 430 miles above sea level to 6200 miles. While the exosphere directly borders with outer space, it contains very little atmosphere.

The Largest Mammal Migration Is Actually Airborne

Nature scientists tell us about the migration of thousands of different animals that occurs all over the world. We might think that the 1.3 million wildebeest who migrate from Tanzania to Kenya is the world’s biggest migration of mammals, but this is not even close to the record.

The biggest migration belongs to the millions of giant fruit bats that travel from Zambia’s Kasanka National Park to the Democratic Republic of Congo every year. This number easily exceeds 10 million and is the largest mammal migration that happens on Earth.

As revealed in this list, we will see that creativity is often a huge gamble and even reeks of desperation. For every great weapon idea, there are literally dozens of very expensive failures.

With this thought in mind, let us examine 7 crazy military weapon ideas that almost became reality.

The Great Panjandrum

The Great Panjandrum was a weapon that consisted of two 10 foot wide rocket-powered wheels which was to deliver a drum that was full of explosives. Under ideal conditions, this weapon was to be used in situations where the British could penetrate heavy German fire in a beach assault and then blow massive holes in enemy lines. This would allow friendly tanks to roll through the enemy lines.

The biggest problem was that the rocket-powered wheels were very unpredictable. The Panjandrum was incredibly unreliable and could not maintain any intended direction. Designers even tried using a third wheel along with steering cables, but those didn’t help. Additionally, when its speed reached 60 mph, its rockets kept flying off.

Nellie

Nellie was a war machine that was intended to resolve an obsolete problem. It was a vehicle covered with armor that would supposedly plow a trench through enemy defensive lines in order for other war machines to subsequently advance through the new trench and further penetrate enemy lines.

It was allegedly a pet project for Winston Churchill. However, it was quickly discovered to not be up to its intended task. For starters, it had a huge turning circle of 1 mile which made it impossible to steer. Secondly, conditions were unbearable inside its cramped cockpit. Finally, with its slow operation and its leaving a long trench trail behind itself, it was a prime target for enemy bombing runs.

The Puckle Gun

The weapon was created in 1718 by a British lawyer named James Puckle. This gun became the very first multi-shot gun that was patented. It was able to fire at three times the rate of a soldier using a standard one shot musket, and yet it could fire with the same range and accuracy as a single shot.

The Puckle Gun could also fire square bullets that were created to induce incredible pain. It is believed that this invention was way ahead of its time. Had it been embraced by a major military, it could have altered warfare at that time. Unfortunately, it proved to be unreliable and too expensive to build as its complexities made impossible to mass produce.

The Bat Bomb

The end result of this weapon idea was to create thousands of fires simultaneously across an area of 40 miles for every bomb that was dropped. This vision was concocted by Pennsylvania dentist Lytle S. Adams, who envisioned Japan getting destroyed by these numerous fires which would be the result of small devices to be dropped using hundreds of bats.

Adams loved to explore caves and was very impressed by bats he had seen at Carlsbad Caverns. After the Japanese torched Pearl Harbor, he took his bat bomb idea to his close friend Eleanor Roosevelt.

Due to his personal connection to the first lady, his zany plan got considered at a much higher level than it probably should have. Incredibly, The National Research Defense Committee considered the idea. It invested over $2 million in “Project X-Ray” to investigate the idea – which was later dropped.

Maus Tank

Of course, the Allies were not alone in creating crazy weapon ideas. Adolf Hitler had always envisioned building a superheavy tank that was indestructible. The Maus was the result of this vision. It was a massive 200-ton tank that was designed by Ferdinand Porsche. Unfortunately for them, the Maus suffered countless mechanical issues from the very beginning.

The driveshaft was a huge problem as it suffered from repeated failures. In spite of containing a huge aircraft engine, its top speed could only reach 12 mph. It had armor that was over 9 inches thick, but it did not have even one machine gun to engage in close combat—even though it would’ve probably been in close combat quite often. Although there were plans to manufacture 150 of these Maus tanks, German generals were not convinced it would an effective weapon, so only two prototypes were even made.

The Blue Peacock

The Blue Peacock was to be huge nuclear landmine to be buried by the British in Western Germany. These mines would detonate to prevent a hypothetical invasion by the Soviet Union into Western Europe. Unfortunately, its design had a massive flaw. When it was buried deep in the ground, the landmine would become too cold to set off the intended nuclear explosion.

Nothing could be any stranger than the proposed solution for this problem. Scientists who were running this project actually proposed burying chickens inside the bomb casing with a week’s worth of food. The chickens’ body heat would then allow the device to detonate.

The Gay Bomb

The notion of creating a “gay bomb” is perhaps the most controversial weapon idea on this list. However, as recent as 1994, the Wright Laboratory of the US Air Force requested $7.5 million in order to create a chemical aphrodisiac to be delivered in an explosive device for the purpose of causing homosexual behavior in enemy troops.

As it turns out, this idea became a horrific failure scientifically. To begin with, there’s no known chemical mechanism that will cause heterosexuals to instantly reverse their sexual preference. Secondly, there is also no known aphrodisiac that has ever had any kind of measurable effect on humans, and certainly nothing that would have the desired drastic effect for a gay bomb.

This project was also a functional failure because there is no data or evidence available that any gay activity would really decrease troop readiness. In fact, there are plenty of homosexuals that have proven to be extraordinary soldiers. In the end, funding was never furnished for this project.

Phenylalanine – This amino acid is one that is not created naturally in the body and has to be received in foods and supplements. It is known to help improve focus, mood, focus, motivation, and relieving anxiety. It will also help reduce chronic pain.

Saint John’s Wort – This nootropic has been around for many generations to battle against mood disorders like depression and anxiety. It should be used alone as it tends to negate other nootropics when taken in stacks.

SAM-e (S-Adenosyl Methionine) – This nootropic is actually a natural compound that is contained within the body. It helps the healthy function of cells and even helps repair damaged cells. It will also improve mood and energy levels.

How often do we find ourselves having difficulty remembering simple things or even just concentrating?

This is the very reason that lots of people have started using brain enhancing pills in order to optimize their mental abilities. Specifically, we are seeing scientists, college students, entrepreneurs, and even geeks beginning to use these products to enhance their brains and to stay remain competitive with peers.

Those who are promoting brain enhancement pills are making the claim that using these products is no different than drinking a cup of coffee – which is completely acceptable in social circles.

The Allure and Future of Brain Enhancing Drugs

Experts tell us that the insertion of custom genes into the bodies of people for the purpose of increasing intelligence is still a very long way off. The question then becomes what can we do in the meantime to enhance our brain power in today’s demanding society? This is where brain enhancing drugs come into play. Many see them as a placeholder until more effective methods of brain enhancement become available.

The vast majority of us think of ginkgo biloba whenever the idea of mind boosting supplements come to mind. This is nothing to sneeze at as this herb generates approximately one quarter of a billion dollars annually worldwide. We have also seen studies in the past that reveal some improvements among Alzheimer’s patients who have taken gonkgo.

Are these the REAL Brain Enhancement Pills?

These are some researchers out there who believe that many of the basic vitamins are the best option in enhancing our mental ability. For instance, they liken the results of common antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, and E over something like ginkgo. These antioxidants are very effective in protecting our brains against the damage from free radicals.

This is a very critical function as our brains are quite vulnerable to these toxins because the brain creates far more free radical per gram than any other organ in our bodies. Antioxidants also help keep blood vessels open and supple which both protects neurons and keeps nutrients flowing to the brain.

Feeding our Brains

Of course, it is very important to eat a well-balanced diet of vegetables and fruits – both of which are loaded with nutrients and antioxidants. There are several studies out there that have proven that eating plenty of veggies and fruits will definitely enhance our mental performance.

If you want to know perhaps the best mental enhancers from your produce counter, then look no further than blueberries and blackberries. These two berries are absolutely loaded with anthocyanins – a chemical that is perhaps the strongest antioxidant out there. Needless to say, these are very healthy foods for thought.

Summary

As we have indicated here, there are several great options for those who wish to boost their mental ability. The best choice starts with fortifying your diet and daily eating habits with effective antioxidant foods. We mentioned blueberries and blackberries above, but there are other foods like avocados, broccoli, brussels sprouts, and kale which are also effective.

Next, you can begin trying some brain enhancing pills like ginkgo and other supplements. Ensure that you use only products that have been studied and are proven to be safe. Use your common sense and find out what works best in your mind and body. Each of us have our own personal set of physical needs and deficiencies.

One of the most popular requests from them wants to know which of these “smart drugs” is the most effective nootropic. And since one of the major benefits from using them is enhanced concentration and memory, it is understandable how they have become very popular among both students and entrepreneurs.

As a result of this, markets have seen the popularity of drugs such as Piracetam and Modafinil skyrocket beyond all expectations. More specifically, these two drugs have created a $1 billion industry in the United States alone. Many experts claim the most effective nootropic is obviously one of these two popular smart drugs.

Smart Drug History

What most people fail to realize is that most of these products aren’t that new to our society. In fact, the lion share of them is derived from prototypes that are quite old. This is because after they were created, they were subsequently abandoned by drug companies for unknown reasons. Most of them were originally intended as treatments for ADHD and narcolepsy.

By and large, experts believe that the most effective nootropics come from the amphetamine category. They usually point to very successful and effective drugs like Adderall and Ritalin as an example of this conclusion. It is very well known among scientists and researchers that stimulants like these will boost dopamine levels within the brain. And dopamine is a neurotransmitter that improves mental activities like concentration, alertness, and energy.

It is stimulants like these that are highly prescribed to people who suffer from ailments like ADHD. Believe it or not, there are certain mentally demanding professions like surgery and airplane pilots who use them as well because reaction times are critical to their performance.

Is Choosing the Most Effective Nootropic a Personal Decision?

Many experts argue that it really depends on why nootropics are needed in choosing the most effective and most suitable one to use. Let us examine them further.

Generally speaking, there are three (3) basic categories of nootropics. We have already discussed the first noortropic category which consists of stimulant drugs. All of them pretty much boost awareness and alertness – even though some are targeted for specific conditions like ADHD.

The second category consists of synthetic compounds such as racetams and piracetam. These compounds typically target the acetylcholine and glutamate neurotransmitters. Racetams are employed to help enhance the memory of those who have suffered from either brain injuries or those afflicted with cognitive degradation that is age-related, but they have little effect on those who are healthy.

The third category of nootropics consists of various natural compounds like ginseng, caffeine, and creatine. This category contains hundreds, if not thousands of different products. Many of them are all available over the counter in virtually any drug store or supermarket. Additionally, most of them have been readily available for several decades.

Even though each of these three nootropic categories contains products that provide reliable benefits, it is those drugs which are prescribed that prove to be the most effective nootropic. Studies have confirms that they outperform the supplements and natural alternatives.

This is why so many people are asking, “What is nootropics?” These supplements are sold as various supplements that are designed to enhance our minds. Specifically they can boost our memory, our cognitive performance, along with our focus in addition to protecting our brains from degeneration and damage.

In our fast paced world along with all the demands we face daily, most all of us would be willing to increase our brain power. This demand is why we can buy these nootropics in a variety of forms to accommodate our lifestyles. Today, they are available in shots, oils, and even snack foods. Virtually all members of our society is willing to try them – all the way from students in college who are struggling with exams to entrepreneurs who wish to transform their business.

How Nootropics Function

In a nutshell, nootropics are basically cognitive technology. They are designed to promote healthy brain activity as well as enhance our mental abilities. Perhaps, you have heard media calling them “smart drugs” or even “the limitless pill.”

Within the nootropic family we will find drugs, supplements, and even various foods. Since they have hit the market, we have witnessed healthy professional adults who are utilizing them learn better and quicker, to improve their concentration and focus, and to boost their memory. In addition, people are beginning to use them to promote healthy cognitive aging in order to prevent dementia.

Five Types of Nootropics

As we all know, enhancing our brain health starts with a strong foundation of a healthy lifestyle. Many of us are simply viewing nootropics as a new way to augment our brain health and performance. Let us examine five kinds of nootropics that were deemed effective during their clinical trials. Our goal must always be to create a diet and nootropic combination that will optimize the health of our brains. When this approach is taken, we will enjoy peak performance.

L-Theanine

The amino acid L-Theanine is found within both black tea and green tea. It has the ability to improve concentration, reduce anxiety, and reduce neurodegeneration.

Lion’s Mane

We have seen the popularity of mushrooms increase in the last few years, and Lion’s Mane has become more popular as well. This nootropic is jammed full of great health promoting nutrients. It will also boost cognitive function, even in people who are cognitively impaired.

Creatine

When we hear about creatine, we often think about how bodybuilders use them to beef up. However, creatine is actually a nootropic. It is known to boost energy in our muscles – which is why bodybuilders love it. But creatine also improves the energy in our brain as well, boosts our memory, and enhances our attention span.

Caffeine

Coffee lovers really enjoy hearing about this! We all know that caffeine stimulates our central nervous system, but it also makes us more alert while improving our concentration. There are even a few studies out there that indicate caffeine will boost the speed of our brain function as well as our reaction time. Ironically, some researchers even claim that caffeine will protect our brains from stress.

Omega-3’s

Scientists have long known that the essential foundation for a healthy brain exists in omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA. If our bodies lack omega-3’s, it can restrict vital communication among brain cells, slow down our thinking, and even impair our focus and memory. The good news is that we have a plethora of foods around us that possess Omega-3’s – such as chia seeds, walnuts, and certain types of fish.

Summary

Hopefully we have answered the question, “What is nootropics?” We must use common sense as we seek nootropics that are best suited for us. Ensure that you read labels carefully as a few companies out there might be using unsafe ingredients.

Almost go the extra step to ensure that your nootropics are authentic and were manufactured by companies that have the highest standards. Remember that some of these supplements have little to no regulation or oversight from government authorities.

Specifically, they want to learn about using the best nootropic stack for their personal lifestyle.

We all know that nootropics are compounds that have the ability to enhance our mental ability and cognitive function. There are several compounds available today that have nootropic qualities, with each of them having the ability to target different region of our brain and mental ability.

Why We Stack Nootropics

It is because several of these nootropics are very mild in potency that people are now combining more than one of them into “stacks” to get the effect they desire. Many characteristics that are sought are to achieve effect that are longer and stronger.

Thus, nootropic stacks have become quite common among those who frequently use them to optimize their mental performance. Finding the very best nootropic stack is desired goal among many professionals who have demanding careers.

To get a step further, the best nootropic stacks are those that are created to enhance synergy among the various ingredients. In order to be more effective, they are often to enhance absorption, increase their overall potency, and even decrease side-effects. It is when nootropics cleverly combined; the benefit of the whole is much larger than the overall sum of its single parts.

Nootropic Stacks that Many Feel are the Best

Natural Focus Stack: L-Theanine + Caffeine

L-theanine is a nootropic that has proven to be one of the most effective cognitive enhancers available today. It has been often used by athletes and students because of its relaxant properties.

Students like this nootropic stack because it promotes alpha brainwaves and helps enhance lucid thinking, boosts attention and creativity without restricting motivation or energy. This has proven to be a wonderful recipe for taking exams and attending lectures.

Athletes enjoy these mental boosts because it clears their heads after workouts and promotes deeper post-exercise recoveries. Also, there are inhibitory neurotransmitters that allow bodybuilders to enjoy deeper sleep which helps build even bigger muscles.

Ultimate Memory Stack: Citicoline + Bacopa Monnieri

Of all the nootropic cholines out there, we now know that citicoline has become the very best because of it has two compounds that are great nootropics in their own right:

Choline – An antecessor to acetylcholine, this neurotransmitter enhances memory, learning, memory, and the activation of neuromuscles.

Cytidine – An antecessor to uridine, this nootropic enhances neurogenesis and synaptic plasticity.

Bacopa monnieri further enhances acetylcholine in the brain status by restricting acetylcholinesterase, which breaks down acetylcholine. This is why this combination doesn’t just boost the level of acetylcholine in the brain, it also keeps them active for longer periods of time to further enhanced our leaning ability and our memory.

Maximum Motivation Stack: N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine + B Vitamins

Mental motivation is directly related to the catecholamine brain chemical known as dopamine. We need dopamine because it is what gives the brain pleasure for learning new knowledge, resolving a challenging problems, and so forth. A healthy level of dopamine equates to healthy levels of motivation.

L-tyrosine is actually an antecessor to catecholamines, which is why it has become a very popular nootropic with people who need motivational fuel. Even those people who are very active will suffer from high stress levels. This is why using L-tyrosine helps increase dopamine levels and keeps you motivated.

To optimize the potency of L-tyrosine, it is often stacked with B vitamins to further enhance conversion to dopamine along with other catecholamines. This is considered the best nootropic stack because our level of B vitamins will deplete as we get older.

As many of us have probably heard, there have been several studies that discovered these nootropics supplements are capable of boosting cognitive performance. This is especially the case in regards to brain functions such as memory, focus, willpower, and creativity. These so-called “smart drugs” are typically a combination of nutrients, amino acids, minerals, and other assorted compounds that our brains use for cognition fuel.

Filling the Demand for Nootropics

All of us get this brain fuel primarily from our diet, and even from some of our daily habits like tea and coffee. Here is where nootropics come into play. The diet that most modern Westerners consume is not getting other types of nootropics which are not there naturally. This is the demand that the supplement market is now serving.

So now people want to know how we can get these missing nootropics into our bodies? The answer is by using health supplements. But what we need to know is that manufacturing an effective supplement is an easy endeavor. It is not as simple as throwing everything into the pot and cranking out a smart drug. Therefore, in order to create nootropics supplements that are effective will demand a comprehensive understanding of neuroscience and interactions of the various ingredients at given dosages.

After discussing with several veteran nootropics users, we have learned about methods of incorporating these missing items in a person’s diet. The most responsible users typically use some very reliable criteria in selecting which ones to go with. Specifically, they look for three things.

1) They ensure that the nootropics they use has been supported by multiple studies. And these studies must have been conducted on humans.

2) They select nootropics that have the highest efficacy to expense ratios. This ensures that they get sufficient bang for their buck.

3) They pick nootropics that are safe and legal. Why put yourself in the hospital? That would defeat the purpose.

Six (6) Primary Benefits of Nootropics

Another concern for people who are interested in starting a nootropics regimen is what exactly these products will do for them. Listed below are the six major benefits of nootropics:

1) Nootropics Boost Memory and Learning

Every single one of us have benefited from our personal learning process throughout our lives. Imagine if somehow we were able to double or triple the effectiveness of that process. Perhaps that doesn’t sound very plausible. But what if we increased our learning ability and memory by 30% or 50%? This is the potential of using the right nootropics stack.

2) Nootropics Improve Attention and Focus

Another daily brain function is our ability concentrate and focus when we most need our mental abilities. Most people are not aware that we actually have several different types of attention, and each of them stand to benefit.

3) Nootropics Provide More Brain Energy

Amazingly, our brain requires about 20% of our body’s total energy. And scientists have told us for many years that the overall health of our brain is dependent on our brain energy.

4) Nootropics Lead to a Better Mood

Our moods exist across a extremely wide span of various states of mind – among those include depression and anxiety. Past studies have indicates that bad moods contribute greatly to low energy of the brain and low resistance to stress.

5) Nootropics Increase Your Stress Resilience

Everyone knows that lots of stress will greatly affect mental performance and general well-being. There are actually a few nootropics that are very effective at stress management.

6) Nootropics Offer Neuroprotection

There is no doubt that the main attraction to nootropics is their ability to provide helpful short term benefits. However, people should not overlook their ability to provide long-term neuroprotective as well. In fact, some might argue that this is the best benefit of taking nootropics.

Summary

We first asked the question, “Do nootropics work?” While these products can provide several positive effects on our overall brain health, we should never forget that they are no substitute for a balanced healthy diet. Our meals should always provide most of the nootropics that our brains need. These supplements should be used to shore up any deficiencies in your present eating habits.

In fact, researchers tell us that both dogs and humans have actually evolved together. And this connection between them goes back thousands of years.

Researchers once believed that dogs actually evolved from wolves in the wild and starting cohabiting with ancient humans. But recent studies have reach totally different conclusion altogether. Experts now think they were spun off from wolves around 135,000 years ago, which was prior to dogs dwelling with humans.

The great news is that humans have shown lots of ways to pay respects and gratitude to their canine friends. Here 5 incredible ways dogs have been valued and even worshiped in the past.

Territorio de Zaguates

Territorio de Zaguates is located in Costa Rica and is considered the land of the stray dogs. This place is actually utopia for dog lovers. This is where dogs of all types and ages are welcomed with opened arms to spend the rest of their lives playing with each other.

This was one a huge ranch that later turned into a massive sanctuary for dogs and has become the world’s largest no-kill shelter. Every single dog gets to roam the beautiful countryside, where they are totally safe from typical canine dangers like cars, dogcatchers, and mean people.

Native Dog Burials

Throughout both North America and South America, Native American burial sites have revealed that they thoroughly valued the companionship of dogs. These Native American canines benefited from human protection and were revered as vermin hunters in villages.

In southern Illinois at the Janey B. Goode site, archaeologists have discovered hundreds of dogs that were buried carefully, and some are even buried in pairs. The utmost care that was used to bury these dogs indicates a love and tenderness that existed between man and pet.

Komainu

In Japan, there are several stone dogs that guard the entrances of shrines which are called Komainu. It’s unknown exactly where these mythical creatures came from, but they are an example of the immortalization of dogs during those times.

Many believe that they were originated in India. And it was within Indian Buddhism that this iconography first appeared in ancient China during the third century. Later it appeared in the boundaries of Korea where they evolved even further.

Tihar

When the Hindus celebrate Diwali each fall, it becomes a colorful festival of lights. People describe it as part Christmas and part Mardi Gras. It is a 5-day festival where people celebrate and exchange gifts and other kindnesses. Tihar is what takes place on the second day of Diwali and it celebrates dogs.

Kukur Tihar is described as a huge birthday party for every single dogs that ever existed—this includes past dogs, present dogs, and future dogs. The objective is smother all dogs with excessive affection. In fact, even strays dogs are treated very lovingly as pets and get to live like canine kings for the day. Celebrators will leave lots of delicious foods on the streets for all dogs to make sure every one of them gets fed.

Wepwawet

We all know that ancient Egyptians were big cat lovers, but few people are aware that they loved dogs as well. In fact, canines are present through all of the deity displays. Take for instance Anubis, who is the Egyptian God of death and embalming that overlooks the dead while wearing the head of the jackal Wepwawet.

Wepwawet, who was the son of Isis, served to protect the dead while moved throughout the underworld of the afterlife. Many believed that this process started when he opened the dead person’s mouth. This is a common ceremony that allowed the deceased to gift back the treasures and prosperities they enjoyed during their life.

In addition, Wepwawet eventually served as a deity of the local cemetery located at Abydos and also as the lord of the necropolis there.

On a seemingly monthly basis, we are awed and amazed at yet another incredible development in technology. It seems that every field of study is undergoing record growth and advancement. In fact, many of these developments are creating brand new fields of study which are requiring new skills to run them.

A few years ago, it was said that Moore’s Law was dead because of massive data growth exceeded the limits of the formula. Listed below are some amazing developments that are leaving an amazing footprint in our society:

USB Condoms are a thing now

If you connect your devices to anything public, be it wireless or wired Internet, or USB power charging stations, it is best to assume that these are not safe. While you can protect your data in several ways, e.g. by using a VPN when you need to access the Internet while connected to a public or untrusted network, it is sometimes the case that simple things are overlooked. USB Condoms are a thing now – gHacks Tech News

The zero-emissions plane was created by retrofitting a standard six-seater seaplane with an electric propulsion system from Magnix, a company headquartered in Redmond, Washington, that began developing new electric motors a decade ago. Until now, other tests of electric planes have involved either hybrids that still have fuel onboard or tiny two-seater planes. This all-electric airplane is flying the first commercial test flight of its kind

‘Dark patterns’ trick you into spending more online

The researchers found that dark patterns appear on more than 1 out of 10 sites and many of the most popular online merchants use these tactics frequently. In some cases, sites will hype limited-time deals with a countdown clock, warn you that the product you’re looking at is running out of stock, or tell you that 65 people in your area have recently purchased the item. In others, they’ll quietly add items to your cart, or sign you up for recurring payments under the guise of a free trial. ‘Dark patterns’ trick you into spending more online – Futurity

But it seems that in America today, we are seeing that long viewed norms and taboos are being viewed differently. Since we have our First Amendment, this is how it should be – except that many long standing norms are now being suppressed.

The irony is that these norms are suppressed in arenas and by groups who have been long defined as the most tolerant. We are talking about college campuses and progressives. They are choosing to redefine any norms as “hate speech” in order to have them suppressed. And this is done without any regard of the basis used to call it hate speech.

If you see no problem with this, then you are not paying attention to the world around you. In reality, this is a warning sign for every one of us.

How society chooses to treat its dissidents is a telltale sign of how it views and – more importantly – enforces its freedom. Unfortunately, we see governments who choose to silence and even punish anyone having what they perceive as hostile opinions. Have you checked out the protests in Hong Kong lately?

The United States has always been a pinnacle of free expression throughout the world. Americans have always been able to freely express their personal opinions and ideas, especially when ideas are unconventional, unpopular, or viewed as totally wrong. We Americans have always been completely free to take part in peaceful protests against most anything; they are free to even burn the American flag.

Furthermore, we have seen our free speech contribute greatly to our prosperity. This is because prosperity is always the reward for conceiving great ideas that benefit all of us. And these great new ideas can only survive in societies that are free of suppression.

Unfortunately, this free speech we have enjoyed is being restricted by a hostile new movement and voice. We must all fight against this horrific activity that is undermining the free speech that all of us enjoy by believing only “their viewpoints” are acceptable.

Check out these recent headlines:

DOJ: Free Speech Has Come Under Attack on Campuses

The right to have your own opinion and express it freely is something cherished by most Americans. Nonetheless, freedom of speech is under attack, not just in the United States, but across the globe. Countries like China are famous for openly censoring the exchange of ideas and information that they deem to be unacceptable or threatening. ESTABLISHMENT MEDIA NOW OPENLY PUSHING TECH GIANTS TO CENSOR ALL INDEPENDENT MEDIA – Nwo Report

But there are bigger fish to fry. Even if big tech is not discriminating against conservative or other viewpoints in a statistically significant way today (as I discussed here), certain regulatory policy pursuits underway could do not only that but also much more, inadvertently or not so inadvertently. How Regulation of “Harmful Speech” Online Will Do the Real Harm

This struggle has been comprised of evaluating countless factors within both nations that are thriving and nations that are suffering. During this effort, experts have examined factors such as leadership styles, types of governments, natural resources, size of workforce, tax rates, GDP’s, and on and on.

This endeavor has resulted in several working theories that have great merit and has been conceived by brilliant minds. But in the end, the world is still left with the global blight known as poverty – a blight that is not totally resolvable because the contributing factors appear to be either circular or unclear.

One View of Global Poverty

Now let’s get back to my original comment of referring to the Foreign Affairs article. Right out of the gate, we are told about the enormous number of people that have been lifted out of poverty over the past few decades. This is mainly due to the enormous growth of China and India during this timeframe.

In the case of China, they had the world’s most massive labor force during this growth spurt, but that labor force no longer exists because of the “2 child per family” limit they implemented years ago. All those workers are now deceased or retired.

So now, economists are seeking out the factors of growth in order to finish the job of eradicating poverty altogether. This is where things start getting tricky because as the article states:

“Economists, ourselves included, have spent entire careers studying development and poverty, and the uncomfortable truth is that the field still doesn’t have a good sense of why some economies expand and others don’t. There is no clear formula for growth.”

That said, I think we call all agree that it is very difficult – if not impossible – to spur growth in a nation’s economy when you can’t find its economic lever. Not only that, there are two other factors they also discovered that confound economic efforts:

1) There have been economies in the past that exploded for no apparent reason.

2) Every economic variable that exists within a country is usually dependent on other variables.

On the bright side, they do point one factor that is very significant. And that is how skilled a given nation is in allocating its resources. They go on to point out that in most cases, a society that has lower poverty rates typically manages their resources better than others.

When you consider the points made here, it seems that giving such an essay a title of “How Poverty Ends” is fool heartedly optimistic.

How can you ever hope to end poverty when 1) you can’t find the trigger that spurs economic growth in a society, 2) you can’t single out economic variables that are not confounding other variables, and 3) you haven’t identified a metric that can measure how well a nation uses its resources?

Obviously, it was apparent to me that we needed to keep searching for more authentic root causes of poverty.

A Second View of Global Poverty

So I continued my searching for some root causes of global poverty. This is when I found a second article from ConfrontingPoverty.org that is entitled “How can we understand the root causes of poverty?”

Specifically, I read Module 6 in their Discussion Guide which dealt with poverty in the United States.

This article pointed out quite sternly that American poverty exists because:

“While it is certainly true that particular individual shortcomings, such as the lack of education or skills, helps to explain who is more likely to be left out in the competition to locate and secure good opportunities, it cannot explain why there is a shortage of such opportunities in the first place.”

This is a nonsensical statement:

The first part of sentence explains why individuals do not qualify for good opportunities, and the second part says there are no good opportunities. So are there good opportunities or not? Until you establish conditions one way or the other, nothing after that makes any sense.

Let us examine another viewpoint from this article:

“Over the past 40 years, the U.S. economy has been producing more and more low-paying jobs, part-time jobs, and jobs that are lacking in benefits. It is estimated that between one quarter and one third of all jobs today in the United States are low-paying.”

This statement beckons a few responses:

1) Shouldn’t all these low-paying jobs be suitable for the people who lack education and skills that was mentioned in your earlier comment?

2) Wouldn’t the part-time jobs be a perfect match for people who are seeking higher education? Do we lack the creativity to see this as an opportunity?

Here’s another excerpt:

“And of course, beyond these low-paying jobs, there are millions of Americans that are unemployed at any point in time. In addition, there are millions of people who are working part-time but want to be working full-time, while some Americans have given up looking for work or have looked only sporadically because they feel that there simply aren’t jobs available for them.”

This comment clearly indicates a lack of current economic news. Listed below are several articles that completely refutes this statement:

United States has its Lowest Unemployment Rate in 50 Years – Thought there was no jobs …. ??

US has 1 Million More Jobs Available than Workers – Thought there was a lack of opportunities … ??

US Must Recruit Foreign Workers to Fill High Skill Jobs – Thought there was a lack of GOOD opportunities … ??

So I continued to search for a root cause behind poverty.

A Third View of Global Poverty

The third article I examined was discovered at Slate.com that is entitled “The Root Cause of Global Poverty”.

Right from the get-go, this article painted everyone as either left winged or right winged, and that all conservatives had one definitive viewpoint and liberals had another viewpoint. I suppose independents or those having mixed views were not acknowledged or considered.

The article went on to discuss the work of the International Justice Mission and its founder, Gary Haugen.

Interestingly enough, Haugen identified crime as a major reason for world poverty. While crime in the United States is at historic lows, the same cannot be said about most other nations – especially where poverty is high.

It went on to discuss how much crime takes place in places like Peru and Kenya. Sadly, sexual violence and domestic violence are responsible for more deaths of women than wars, diseases, and car accidents combined. But this is not all – the overwhelming majority of these predators are never brought to justice. In fact, law enforcement officials and political leaders are often the guilty parties.

Since these societies have no lawful structure, it is easy to see why they are impoverished. If girls even try to attend any kind of education, they expose themselves to these hideous attacks. Survival quickly becomes a priority over education in such an environment.

It would be hard for anyone to argue that lawlessness begets poverty as Gary Haugen indicated.

While this was by far the most useful and plausible of these three poverty articles, it also supports my hypothesis that solving global poverty will never ever happen.

Consider this excerpt from the article:

“Conservatives, too, can learn from IJM’s work. To fight terrorism, you have to confront police abuse in the developing world. People who don’t trust law enforcement don’t cooperate with it, and their silence allows terrorist organizations to flourish. Chaos and violence also fuel migration across the United States’ Southern border. “Central America has some of the most lawless and violent countries in the world,” says Haugen. “Families are fleeing these communities where there’s no functioning justice system.” A wall won’t solve the problem, he warns. “If you do not address the underlying circumstances of lawless chaos in countries that border [us] and that have access to the border, you will never build anything sufficient” to control immigration.”

As I read the current news – especially over the last 4 or 5 years – it is progressives who don’t trust law enforcement. It is progressives who want to allow lawlessness to cross America’s borders. And it is progressives who want to haphazardly empty the prisons in the United States.

Conservatives strive for MORE law and order.

Summary

My initial hypothesis was that global poverty will never be resolved.

Let’s review:

1) The first article stressed that nations need to learn how to better allocate their resources to combat poverty. Yet they could not identify any metrics that measured how that could be accomplished.

2) The second article made the claim that there are no good opportunities in the United States because political and economic structures have failed. Yet current economic data totally refutes that claim.

3) The third article identified crime and lawlessness as the major cause of poverty – which I agree with. Yet it presupposes and makes a weak claim that conservatives have not supported effective law enforcement in the past.

Interestingly, it is this third article that proves my hypothesis the most. It proves that even when we agree on a root cause, we can’t agree on the context.

Unfortunately, the most damaging example of confounding variables is when one of them pertains to egos.
